The official 2008 Voodoo Golf Tour came to a close at Cypress Landing CC on Friday and what a way to close the season. The course was in immaculate shape. The green ran smooth as silk but the rough was dangerous. You really paid a price for missing the fairway on this course.
After having a little lunch at the clubhouse grill…
we went to choose teams.
From a hat the teams were…
SHIRTS: Donnie, Ricky, Dan and Ray Heath.
against…
SKINS: Don, Ryan, Kris and Myself (Well…not really skins but Don and I had some people scared.)
Next came the rules…
Each team member got 1 mulligan and 1 red tee on the front and on the back.
Closest to the pin on two of the par 3’s gets a “beverage”.
The Front Nine:
The Skins started off on fire with two quick birdies but ran into some problems and boggied holes 4, 5 & 6. (The rough was unforgiving.)
We got a stroke back on hole 8 but finished the front even with a boggie on 9.
The Shirts made no mistakes on the front. They birdied 1,4 and 9 to finish 3 under on the front.
The Back Nine:
The Skins team started to pull it together on the back. Diggler started a two in a row birdie rally with a 150+ bomb on the par 5 #17…see video
The Skins finished the back nine 2 under par…but we had a lot of fun.
The Shirts kicked the crap out of the skins on the back nine. With 5 birdies and 4 pars, they completed the butt whopping with a score of 8 under par.
But the Shot of the Week goes to Donnie “The Laser” Lee with a clutch putt on 18 while getting heckled by the peanut gallery.
The Final Superball Score:
Skins 70
Shirts 64
Diggler and The Big Head got the closest to the pin awards and a frosty “beverage”.
Everybody should thank Kris “The Commish” for all his calls this year for tee times and for keeping everybody straight.
Also, very big thank to Cypress Landing member Ray Heath for letting the Voodoo Tour stop in his course.

On Friday July 25th, the voodoo tour returned to Bradford Creek Golf Course.

The ranks of the VooDoo Tour were thin at the 2nd tour appearance at Ayden CC on June 20th. With only three players making an appearance, you would think the round would move quick. That was not the case. The course was packed with no marshal. The players making an appearance were The Commish, The “Laser” Lee and myself.

It was a blistering hot Friday on June 6th at Ayden CC the sitting for the season opener of the Voodoo Tour. There were six individuals who “Manned Up” and braved the heat for the love of the game. There was a completion on best score but to say the teams were unevenly matched would be an understatement. Team 2 spotted Team 1 10 strokes on the 10 toughest holes and Team 1 still lost. Well when you have “The Ringer” on your team you are tough to beat.
